With lots of rain in California this year, the population of salamanders in Lake Lag has increased. Unfortunately, this attracted their nefarious predators, the Ferrets. We were tasked to build a tele-operated hovering device (DOG) and controller (FARMER) that can herd all the Ferrets to a capture zone, thus saving the poor salamanders from consumption.
Meet Sparky (aka Fat and Furious). Sparky is a hovercraft dog that glides on a cushion of air from the lift fan inside his belly. Sparky can drive forward, backward and turn left or right using the two powerful brushless fans on his sides. Sparky is also super energetic and loves to play his favorite tune, "Who Let the Dogs Out," from the speaker inside his hat.
The Farmer is Sparky's trainer. With the clever use of a bacon-flavor bone and a dinner bowl, the Farmer can cajole Sparky into moving anywhere on the "lake." The wireless communication protocol used is common to every team, so our Farmer can also control other Dogs during the herding, and other teams' Farmers can step in and control Sparky.
